Scanning an ID

The fastest and most accurate way to verify an ID is to scan its barcode. You can also take a photo, upload an image, or type the details manually.

  1. 1

    Open the Verify tab

Tap the Scan icon in the bottom bar. You'll see a dashed upload zone with three buttons below it.

  2. 2

    Choose how to scan

Tap the dashed zone to open the barcode scanner (recommended). Or tap Take a photo, Upload an image, or Enter details manually.

  3. 3

    Scan the barcode

Point your camera at the PDF417 barcode on the back of the ID. Hold steady until it reads. The app validates it against the AAMVA standard.

  4. 4

    Review the extracted fields

After scanning, the name, date of birth, address, license number, and sex fill in automatically. Check each field — if anything was misread, tap it and correct it before running a check.

  5. 5

    Tap Check ID

This searches public records for the person and shows their real age. The result appears below with a color-coded verdict.

Understanding the results

After you tap Check ID, the app compares the ID's details against public records and shows one of five verdicts.

  1. 1

    ID verified (green)

A public record matches the name and age on the ID. This supports the ID being genuine.

  2. 2

    Possible fake ID (red)

A same-name record was found for someone under 21, and the ID presents them as older. The altered birth year would change this person from underage to legal drinking age.

  3. 3

DOB mismatch — verify carefully (amber)

A same-age record was found, but the birth month or year doesn't match the ID. The card may have been altered.

  4. 4

Likely an old fake ID (blue)

The person is now over 21, but the age on the ID differs from their actual age in public records. This often means the ID was a fake used when they were underage — they've since aged into legal drinking age, but the card still doesn't match their real birthday.

  5. 5

    No match found (gray)

No exact name match was found in public records. This can mean the name is fabricated, records were scrubbed, or the name is too uncommon to index. No match is a strong fake-ID signal, but not conclusive on its own.

  6. 6

    Review the most likely match

Each result shows a Most Likely Match card with the person's real age, birth month/year, and locations. If they live near your venue, a red Local badge appears — a key fake-ID signal.

DMV verification

$2.00 per scan

For extra certainty, you can verify the ID against the issuing state's official DMV records. This confirms the name, date of birth, and license number all match what the state has on file.

  1. 1

    Add a DMV payment method

Go to Settings → DMV verification payment. Enter your card details and tap Save card. Each DMV scan charges $2.00 to this card. Staff members don't need their own card — scans bill to the manager's card.

  2. 2

    Scan the ID's barcode

On the Verify tab, scan the barcode or enter the details manually. The license number is required for a DMV check — if the barcode didn't include one, type it from the card.

  3. 3

    Tap Verify with DMV

The button is below Check ID. It's only enabled when you have a card on file and the license number field is filled.

  4. 4

    Read the DMV result

The result card shows whether the license number matched the state's records, plus a field-by-field comparison (name, DOB, license number, address). A green check means the field matched; a red X means it didn't.

  5. 5

    Pennsylvania consent flow

PA requires the ID holder's consent. Check the consent box before tapping Verify with DMV. A consent link appears — have the ID holder open it on their phone and agree. Then tap Check result to retrieve the verification.

  6. 6

    Check DMV availability

Scroll to the MVA / DMV verification card on the Verify tab and expand the state list to see which states are available, temporarily offline, or unsupported.

Batch mode

Business plan

Scan up to 4 IDs at once, then run checks on all of them together. Great for busy door lines.

  1. 1

    Switch to Batch mode

On the Verify tab, tap the Batch (up to 4) toggle at the top of the page.

  2. 2

    Scan each ID

Tap Add ID, then scan the barcode or take a photo for each person. Each ID appears as a card in the queue. You can add up to 4.

  3. 3

    Review the extracted fields

Tap any ID card to expand it and check the extracted details. Correct any misread fields before running the check.

  4. 4

    Tap Check all

This runs a public records check on every queued ID at once. Results appear in each card with the same color-coded verdicts as single mode.

  5. 5

    Remove an ID

Tap the X on any ID card to remove it from the batch before or after checking.

Scan history

Pro & Business plans (not Starter)

Past verifications are saved so you can review them later. You can filter by date, expand matches, and delete individual records.

  1. 1

    Open the History tab

Tap the History icon in the bottom bar. Your most recent scans appear at the top.

  2. 2

    Filter by time range

Tap All, Today, This week, or This month at the top. Or pick a specific month with the date picker.

  3. 3

    Review a scan

Each card shows the person's name, date of birth, age, location, and the verdict. The Most Likely Match card shows the person the verdict is based on.

  4. 4

    Expand all matches

Tap the X matches button at the bottom of a card to see every public-records match found for that scan, not just the primary one.

  5. 5

    Delete a record

Tap the trash icon on any card to permanently delete that scan from your history.

  6. 6

    Turn off saving

Go to Settings → Save scan history and toggle it off. New scans won't be stored. You can also set an auto-purge schedule (see Settings section).

Setting your venue location

Setting your venue lets the app flag IDs belonging to people who live nearby — a key fake-ID signal. On the Business plan, this also creates a geofence that restricts staff scans to your venue.

  1. 1

    Go to Settings

Tap the Settings icon in the bottom bar. On Starter or Pro, look for the Venue location card. On Business, venue settings are in the Team page.

  2. 2

    Enter your venue address

Type the full street address (e.g. 123 Main St, Austin, TX) and tap Set. The app converts it to coordinates.

  3. 3

    Or use your current location

Tap Use my current location to set the venue to where you are right now. Allow location access when prompted.

  4. 4

    Set the proximity radius

Enter how many miles from your venue counts as local — 40 miles is typical. Lower it for dense cities, raise it for rural areas. Tap Save.

  5. 5

Business plan: set the geofence radius

On the Business plan, also set the geofence radius in feet (1,000 ft is typical). Staff can only run scans within this radius of your venue. Increase it for venues with outdoor areas.

  6. 6

    Verify on the map

A map appears showing your venue with the geofence circle. Confirm the pin is in the right spot.

Team management

Business plan

Invite door staff to verify IDs from the app using your shared scan pool. Staff don't need their own subscription — they use your scans.

  1. 1

    Open the Team page

Go to Settings → Business and Team Settings → Manage. If you don't see it, upgrade to the Business plan first.

  2. 2

    Name your business

Tap the pencil icon next to the business name, type the name, and tap the checkmark to save.

  3. 3

    Invite a staff member

Scroll to Invite a staff member. Type the staff member's name and tap Generate join code. A 6-character code appears.

  4. 4

    Share the join code

Give the code to your staff member. They enter it in their app under Settings → Join a team to link their account to your team.

  5. 5

    Manage staff

The Staff list shows each member with their status (Invited or Active) and scan count. Use the geofence bypass toggle to let a staff member scan from anywhere, or the WiFi bypass toggle to require GPS even on trusted WiFi.

  6. 6

    Remove a staff member

Tap the trash icon next to any staff member to remove them from your team.

  7. 7

    Set up trusted WiFi

In the Trusted WiFi card, type your venue's WiFi network name and tap Add. Staff connected to this network skip the geofence check — useful when a device's GPS isn't available.

  8. 8

    Set the venue geofence

In the Venue geofence card, enter your venue address or use your current location. Set the geofence radius in feet. Staff scans only work within this radius.

Adding additional locations

Business plan — $24.99 per location

If your business operates multiple venues, you can add up to 3 additional locations. Each location adds 500 scans to your shared pool and gets its own geofence.

  1. 1

    Enable multi-location

On the Team page, find the Multi-location business card and toggle the switch on.

  2. 2

    Tap Add location

Tap the Add location — $24.99 button. You'll be taken to checkout to complete the purchase.

  3. 3

    Complete checkout

Enter your payment details on the checkout page. After payment, the new location appears in your list.

  4. 4

    Name the location

Tap the pencil icon next to the location name, type a name (e.g. Downtown Bar), and tap the checkmark.

  5. 5

    Set the geofence

Enter the venue address or use your current location. Set the geofence radius in feet. Staff scans at this location only work within its radius.

  6. 6

    Repeat for more locations

You can add up to 3 additional locations total. Each adds 500 bonus scans to your shared pool.
